Rabat has been the capital city of Morocco since 1912 and is recognized as one of the Imperial Cities. This designation provides insight into the grandeur of some of its structures, including the Hassan Tower built in the late 12th century. During that same period, construction commenced on the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a fortified wall complex from where one can appreciate stunning panoramic vistas of the city, its coastline and nearby Salé.
You can explore all of this and more at your leisure. Later, retire in comfort at a centrally located riad in this city, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy free time to wander the medina and its souk, or venture outside to other intriguing locales like the Mohamed VI Museum of Contemporary Art.

After breakfast at the riad in Rabat, we will depart early morning and head northward. Our objective is to arrive in Choeun with ample time for exploring this alluring little town. The journey will take around 4 hours by road, with the final part winding gently through the Rif Mountains. Sandwiched between two of them sits Chaouen (also known as Chefchaouen or El Aaiún). Its medina is characterized by narrow, steep and sinuous streets, which exude a unique charm thanks to the distinctive light blue color that embellishes the walls. The town boasts an intriguing kasbah that now serves as an ethnographic museum, and opportune vantage points to appreciate the verdant surroundings and the town's hamlet. It remains a place where ancient customs and lifestyles endure, coupled with exceptional artisanal skill in textile production. Upon returning from exploring the medina, your riad will be conveniently situated in the town's historic center.

Finally, at the end of the day, we will reach Fez, providing an opportunity for an unguided stroll. Here, you can have your first encounter with this historically rich city and peruse its craft shops, which are renowned for their quality within and beyond the country's borders.
