Jerusalem Theater

Attraction
SITE OVERVIEW

Israel’s Largest Center for Art and Culture

The Jerusalem Theater draws nearly one million visitors every year for performing arts events such as plays, dances, concerts, exhibitions, and lectures. First opened in 1971, the theatre is a hub for the cultural arts in all of Israel. Located in the Talbiya neighborhood, it’s close to notable landmarks like the President’s Residence and the Museum of Islamic Art. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, the theatre offers a welcoming stage for international artists and performers from all over the world.

The building stands out as an impressive feat of architecture in itself. A massive presence to witness and experience, the theatre was constructed with striking stone and concrete walls. Designed by Michael Nadler, the Jerusalem Theatre is a beautiful showcase of modern abstract architecture. Surrounding a hill, the building features low horizontal terraces that rise up from the earth and extend to the ceiling of the stage tower. The building is listed for historical preservation by the Jerusalem Municipality.

A popular spot for outdoor jazz concerts and independent films, the Jerusalem Theatre is a must-visit in the Old City. As the home venue for the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, it’s become an inextricable part of Israel’s creative energy, where art meets history. You can get seats to see a show and enjoy an afternoon or evening of performances, lectures, and more here.

🌍 Celebrating One Year of the Jewish Silk Road Portal

World Jewish Travel was thrilled at #IMTM 2024 to present a copy of the WJT Jewish Silk Road Pressbook to the CEO of the Azerbaijan National Tourism Board Florian Sengstschmid and Jamilya Talibzade its Israeli representative Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB).

The Pressbook celebrates the one year anniversary of the Jewish Silk Road Portal launch, an amazing example of using Jewish travel as a means of cultural diplomacy, whilst highlighting the significant Jewish contribution to the ancient trade route. Kudos to our participating partners from the Kiriaty Foundation (Turkey), National Board of Tourism of #Georgia, National Board of Tourism of #Uzbekistan, and Israeli Embassy of #India.

See the overwhelming reaction from the press, by downloading our free pressbook. Special thanks to Moshe Gilad of the @haaretzcom for highlighting this forgotten but important story in the Galeria section of the newspaper and available to download on WJT.
