Tell me moreThe community of Besalu hailed from the Call of Girona, and, like most good Jewish communities, produced some well-known doctors (amongst them notables like Abraham des Castlar, personal doctor to Peter IV of Arragon, and Bendit des Logar, two of the leading physicians of the time). Around the Call are the remains of the Jewish community, the mikveh (ritual bath), and remains of the synagogue. If the heat gets too much, the Visitor Centre of the Jewish quarter is highly informative, as is the Cultural Centre Curia Real, a former home of a notable Jewish family
